2019 Term 1 and Term 2 Workshops at Bright Center

Maths Olympiad Training (MO) covers various problem solving strategies together with many standard topics of Math Olympiad curriculum for respective levels.  We have also conducted various other workshops in Computational Thinking (CTI), Science (Vanda) and Memory (MCW).

Lessons are designed by SIMCC Team to embark students on various contests. Each lesson is conducted by the discussion of each topic followed by a comprehensive set of related practice problems.

Where students get into top schools via direct school admissions (DSA).

November/December 2018 Holiday Workshops

WorkshopDescription
Math Olympiad (OM) Primary 2 to Secondary 3
Math olympiad intensive training designed by SIMCC Team to embark students on various math contests such as Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad
(Sasmo.sg), Singapore Math Kangaroo Contest (MathKangaroo.sg) and American
Mathematics Olympiad (AMO.sg). Students will be taught different creative strategies that help improve their problem-solving skills. This workshop will build students confidence and help them win awards at SASMO, Math Kangaroo and AMO. In addition, this foundation required to embark on tougher contests like NMOS, Mathlympics, RIPMWC and SMOPS.

Intermediate Math Olympiad (IMO)
Primary 4 to Secondary 1
Suitable for students preparing for National Mathematical Olympiad of Singapore
(NMOS), Raffles Institution Primary Math World Contest (RIPMWC), Singapore Mathematics Olympiad (SMO), Singapore Math Olympiad for Primary Schools (SMOPS) and ACSI Mathlympics. Open to P4 and P5 students who won awards in any math olympiad or who participated in math contest training. An assessment test will be given to students without math olympiad awards or training who want to join this class.
Memory Champion Workshop (MCW)
Primary 3 to Sec 2
Students in this class will be equipped with the best strategies to absorb information in an efficient, coherent and creative way. Class materials will help them develop powerful memory strategies and to start putting them into practice - to succeed in tests and exams, but also to achieve an education rich enough to drive lifelong success.
Vanda Science
Science program which covers MOE’s 5 themes - Energy, Interactions, Cycles,
Systems, and Diversity. See the amazing things you can do with the Science learned in school. To learn, discover, explore science through conceptual learning and answering techniques using hands-on experiments, DIY model-making, and
learn as you play science games. Gear up for science this holiday with your senses, creativity, and curiosity. And start scoring “*A”s in Science.
Computational Thinking Informatics (CTI)
Primary 4 to Secondary 1
Computational Thinking Informatics prepares students for international competitions on Informatics and Computational Thinking. Our lessons go beyond the regular computer programming curriculum by helping students develop and leverage cognitive thinking and creative problem-solving skills, to learn how to recognize patterns and break down a bigger problem into smaller parts. We help them to formulate problems in a way that could be solved using a computer more efficiently and they will learn much more powerful ideas like taking complex problems and breaking it down into a series of small, more manageable problems. Winners of our contests are invited by NUS School of Computing (SoC) for free National Olympiad of Informatics (https://noisg.comp.nus.edu.sg/noi/) to attend free training at NUS SoC.
